Course Description

This course examines the attitudes, methods, and techniques used in effective public speaking. Effective performance required in a variety of speaking situations.

Student Outcomes

  • Students will apply active listening skills in critiquing speeches of classmates
  • Students will research and organize source materials for speeches.
  • Students will compare principles of organizing and outlining a public presentation, including the introduction, body, and conclusion of a speech, with appropriate transitions.
  • Students will synthesize source materials in speeches and cite materials appropriately in both written and verbal form.
  • Students will incorporate presentation aids effectively.
