Course Description

GLH 301 is centered on applied or community-based experiences. Each person in this class has already, or is currently, engaged in some “real world” involvement related to global health. Your practicum experience encourages you to integrate and apply skills and knowledge gained through your coursework with experience gained in a professional public health work environment. Global health work environments include not-for-profit organizations, hospitals, local health departments, and for-profit firms among others. A typical practicum experience in the GLH Major requires students to work a minimum of 80 hours under the guidance of an experienced site supervisor with the advice of your academic advisor and/or your instructor. As a project for this course, you will create a presentation that shares your experience, the knowledge you gained, and the new questions you developed as a result of your practicum.
