Abstract
Many tennis coaches, parents, and colleagues of tennis players try to chart a tennis match on paper, which turns out to be hard to follow and hard to visualize the statistics of points. MatchStat, a mobile application, will allow users to easily chart statistics of a single player in a singles tennis match. It eliminates the hassle of charting statistics on multiple variables and counting errors and winners of multiple shots by hand. The system prompts the user to enter a name and date for the tennis match, and then asks the user if the charted player is serving or receiving, and how the player won or lost the point. The system stores the information by the user tapping the respective icon to indicate how each point ended. After these steps are completed, the user is taken back to the beginning of the process, where the user selects if the player is serving or receiving the next point. At any time, the user can tap an icon that will direct them to view a spreadsheet of the match data that displays the amount of winners, forced errors, and unforced errors for each of the shots made by the player. In addition, it will also show first and second serve percentages, and the percentage of points won on the first and second serve.
