Abstract

“Chess? Chess.” is a Java-based application designed for two players to engage in the traditional game of chess while simultaneously learning its rules and strategies. The application distinguishes itself by integrating written instructions that are displayed in real-time, offering guidance on various game states and rules as players progress through their match. The user interface is designed to be simple and intuitive, allowing players to focus on both the gameplay and the instructional content. As players make significant moves, changing the game states, the application dynamically updates to provide relevant explanations on such game states. “Chess? Chess.” deepens beginners’ understanding of the rules. Instructions such as: “Your King is in check! Evade or block to escape the check” or “Control the center! Putting pieces toward the center of the board results in an advantageous position” will be displayed during the live game next to the board to guide beginners.
