Halloween Family Scavenger Hunt`

Join us on Sunday afternoon the 29th of October for some tricks (and maybe just a few treats) for the whole family! From 4:30-6pm, the Peeler Art Center galleries will be open for all family members to partake in a scavenger hunt through the artwork on display. Free and open to the public, this event is part of ArtsFest 2017: Art & Origin. This event is also in conjunction with Greek Street Trick or Treat.

ArtsFest: Gallery Tour of Jiha Moon Exhibition

Join Craig Hadley, Director/Curator, and Alexandra Chamberlain, Assistant Curator, for a guided tour and Q&A session of the current exhibit Double Welcome, Most Everyone's Mad Here. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, artist Jiha Moon harvests cultural elements native to Korea, Japan, and China and then unites them with Western elements to investigate the multi-faceted nature of our current global identity as influenced by popular culture, technology, racial perceptions, and folklore. Featuring over fifty works, Moon blurs the lines between Western and Eastern identified iconography such as the characters from the online game Angry Birds© and smart phone Emojis which float alongside Asian tigers and Indian gods, in compositions that appear both familiar and foreign simultaneously. Free and open to the public, this event is part of ArtsFest 2017: Art & Origin.

Tibetan Art: A Gallery Talk with Bruce Walker ’53

Bruce Walker graduated from DePauw in 1953. After two years in the Marine Corps, he became a case officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (1956-1973), working on the Agency's Tibetan resistance project 1960-1968, codenamed STCIRCUS. While stationed in India and Sikkim during the period 1962-1968, he assembled Tibetan thangkas and religious objects into a collection which he donated to DePauw in 2002. Join us in the gallery for an evening of conversation with Mr. Walker. Free copies of the exhibition catalog Infinite Splendor, Infinite Light, will also be available. Funding for this exhibition is generously provided by the Arthur E. Klauser Endowment and the Asian Studies program.

Moorefield, Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Taubman Museum of Art and Mark Sloan, Director and Chief Curator of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. Free and open to the public, join us on Thursday, September 21st at 4:15PM in the Peeler Auditorium to hear Jiha discuss her work in the exhibition Jiha Moon: Double Welcome, Most Everyone's Mad Here (on display from August 25th until October 29th in the Visual Arts Gallery at the Peeler Art Center.) Funding for this exhibition is generously provided by the Arthur E. Klauser Endowment and the Asian Studies program.

DePauw Percussion Ensemble

The DePauw Percussion Ensemble presents its annual program of contemporary solo and chamber works for percussion, composed and improvised, in a non-traditional concert setting. Directed by Dr. Ming-Hui Kuo, the one-hour performance fuses contemporary art and music in the galleries at Peeler. Refreshments will be served following the event.

Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. So join us in the Peeler Art Center lobby on Saturday, April 8th at 11am for a Presidents: DePauw and Beyond themed Slow Art Day that will take us across the DePauw campus and through time. Slow Art Day is free and open to the public, and includes snacks! All ages are welcome to join us!
