    Curator talk by Maggie Leininger

    Maggie Leininger
    Wednesday, March 17, 2021, 8-9pm

Join us for a curator talk by Maggie Leininger, Director and Curator of Peeler Art Center, as she highlights some of the artists in Shifting Gaze: A Reconstruction of the Black and Hispanic Body in Contemporary Art. The exhibition consists of work from 27 artists who delve into the issues of race, identity, sexuality, displacement, and belonging. In addition to artist concepts and inspiration, Leininger will also address the disparity between exhibiting and collecting work created by people of color. Organized by Mennello Museum of American Art, Shifting Gaze: A Reconstruction of the Black and Hispanic Body in Contemporary Art features the extraordinary vision and passionate quest of the Winter Park collector Dr. Feldman who shares with us an unparalleled visual intellect fueled by his knowledge, curiosity, humanity, and keen eye. Visit Galleries at Peeler for a full catalog of the exhibition. The exhibition will be viewable online by the end of March and will be on view until June 20, 2021.
