David Hevel: Babes in the Woods

David Hevel's over-the-top constructions employ taxidermy forms, props, and craft supplies to create ribald sculptures and installations that borrow their titles from celebrity tabloids. -
Beyond Green: Toward a Sustainable Art
September 14 – December 2, 2007
An exhibition that explores how sustainable design philosophy informs the work of an emerging generation of international artists who combine a fresh aesthetic sensibility with a constructively critical approach to the production, dissemination and display of art. Beyond Green: Toward a Sustainable Artis co-organized by the David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art, University of Chicago, and by iCI(Independent Curators International), New York, and circulated by iCI. The exhibition is curated by Stephanie Smith. The exhibition and accompanying catalogue are made possible in part by the Smart Family Foundation; the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation; the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation; and iCI Exhibition Partners Kenneth S. Kuchin and F. Bruce Anderson, and Gerrit and Sydie Lansing. Additional support is provided by the Arts Planning Council, the Environmental Studies Program, and the Green Campus Initiative, University of Chicago. Its presentation at DePauw has been generously funded by the Richard D. and Barbara Dixon Harrison Exhibition Fund. -
Jen Liu: An Innocent Revolution

Jen Liu examines culture and politics through a patchwork of pop models - including rock music, narrative tropes and digital graphics - creating utopian worlds where aspects of the real are intensified through allegory and mass media aesthetics. -

By integrating art installation, sound and technology, [dNASAb] works across a broad range of media - including photography, drawing, painting, audio, video, and assemblage sculpture - to create works that visualize the possible aesthetics of wireless data and the fetishization of technology. -
