Course Description

A workshop focused on the writing of short fiction using modern and contemporary short stories as models and inspiration.

  1. Through the crafting of your own work, class discussion of published stories, and reading the course textbook, you are expected to demonstrate your understanding of the elements and structure of fiction.
  2. Through class discussion of published texts, you will demonstrate your understanding of the elements of fiction and how a story is crafted.
  3. Through three workshop sessions, students will learn about the workshopping process (comportment, critiques, and accepting feedback, etc.)
  4. Through class discussion and the revising of one story, students will learn the intricacies of the revision process.
