Course Description

Drawing is one of the most immediate and responsive forms of art-making. This class will introduce concepts that will carry over into other visual practices and develop our ability to recognize and create good drawings. Course Goals: This course acts as an introduction to the visual side of drawing. Students will learn the practice and science of drawing as well as various studio techniques like sight measuring and tool maintenance.

Student Outcomes

By the end of the semester students will

  • Be able to see and draw in proportion.
  • Have a complex understanding of the anatomy of light and shade.
  • Investigate line, shape, drawing, form.
  • Render the visual impression or facilitate the consultation of vision.
