Course Description

The goals of Economics 360 are: (1) to give students a detailed examination of the equity markets in the U.S.; (2) to critically examine the various ways stocks can be analyzed; (3) to examine modern portfolio theory; (4) to gain practical experience in analyzing stocks; (5) to stimulate students' awareness of and continued interest in investments.

Student Outcomes

Students will be able to…

  • Compare and contrast the various asset classes and types of financial instruments
  • Explain the principles of portfolio theory and analyze a portfolio of risky assets
  • Perform discounted cash flow analysis and compute the value of common stocks, bonds, and other securities
