Course Description

This course is to provide prospective of financial statements with an understanding of the accounting fundamentals. The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the assumptions and logic inherent in accounting techniques so that they can become effective users of financial statements for decision making. Throughout the course, a critical attitude will be encouraged.

Student Outcomes

Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Develop a basic understanding of how to record/classify different (accounting) transactions
  • Create and analyze financial statements
  • Identify and interpret financial information to inform external decision makers
  • Apply critical thinking skills by identifying and analyzing accounting issues using relevant accounting frameworks.
