Course Description
Instruction: Through lecture and hands-on demonstrations, we will develop facility with the tools needed for contemporary music production
Class discussions: As a class, we will discuss topical listenings/readings, project progress, and challenges faced/overcome.
Readings: Assigned readings will help reinforce concepts pertaining to our course objectives.
Projects: By taking our new understandings and putting them into practice, we complete the learning circle. We will have ongoing creative music projects to reinforce our learning and to demonstrate our understanding of the theories and techniques presented during instruction.

Student Outcomes
● To gain a deeper understanding about the physical nature of sound and its creative digital manipulation
● To further develop proficiency in music technologies and their applications to music composition, performance and production
● To gain deeper understandings of digital audio, MIDI theory, and tools, including microphones, mixers, and controllers to record, mix and edit broadcast-quality audio with digital audio workstation (DAW) software.
● To build a deeper understanding of effects processors such as reverb, compressors and equalizers to create dynamic and spectral balance in productions
● To develop critical thinking skills necessary to apply computer based recording and production strategies in a diverse range of scenarios
● To learn the applications of music technologies for live concert production
