Course Description

Woodwind Technique Oboe course consists of 7 weekly individual 30-minute lessons. Lessons will cover the following topics: Fundamentals of sound production (i.e. breathing techniques, embouchure, posture) Reed care Instrument care Standard oboe fingerings Alternative oboe fingerings for selected notes Basics of teaching the beginner student Basic instrument checkup and repair Identifying and helping with basic performance issues

Student Outcomes

Development of a comprehensive understanding of fundamental technical components of oboe playing and oboe teaching.
