Course Description
Topics covered in this course include Basic knowledge about the piano, Keyboard topography, Music notation (reading and writing), Pitch and Rhythm, Harmonization, Technique, Musicianship, Developing listening skills, Getting to know yourself. Training the mind, Discipline and perseverance. All students in this course WILL learn how to read music and play the piano IF they come to class with open minds, follow instructions systematically, be patient, do things step by step, practice methodically, persevere and not be discouraged.

Student Outcomes
Students will be able to: Read treble and bass clefs. Understand and execute simple rhythms. Play elementary piano repertoire. Acquire sufficient music learning and technical skills to allow them to learn pieces independently and with more confidence.
