Course Description
The Senior Seminar is designed to be the capstone experience for Religious Studies majors. Course content include the following: (1) exploring critical terms and theories in the study of religion, and their intersection with other disciplines; (2) explores contemporary issues, beliefs, and events of particular historical importance to the discipline; (3) and exploring varieties of religious expression in different religious and cultural contexts; (4) collection, exploration, review, and analysis of religious adherents’ experiences and expressions, and a synthesis of all research into a presentation and final written project. The course provides students with a structured, self-paced learning experience in which readings, research project, and presentation intersect.

Student Outcomes
I. To develop a solid foundation of credible knowledge about diverse religions and the concept of “religion.” II. Cultivation of a greater global and cultural awareness of self and other by engaging with peoples and cultures from around the globe. III. To develop robust and responsible ways to think comparatively about religious similarities and differences. IV. Students will be able to write essays and theses using cross-culturally framed and informed research questions. V. Engage with formulating questions and making effective arguments (both orally and in writing), conducting research, evaluating research resources, and organizing projects.
