Course Description

An introduction to abstract reasoning in the context of sets, functions, Discrete Mathematics, Number Theory, Group Theory and Real Analysis. The emphasis, however, is more on the concept of proof than on any one given topic.

Student Outcomes

After this course, students will be able to . . . Formulate a well-written proof using various techniques and approaches. Express and present solutions to abstract mathematical problems with supporting work. Interpret and summarize complex mathematical ideas and reasoning.
