Volume 29, Issue 2 (2016)

Letter from the Editor

This is a year of impending change for DePauw University. There’s no doubt we’re already seeing it in the constant construction and increase of invaluable discussions on diversity, but it goes further even than what you can see now. Next year, everything from the hall in which you eat lunch to the name at the bottom of the campus presidential addresses will be different. It’s only right that A Midwestern Review follows suit and evolves with the students and university it calls home.

At the behest of the English department, we’re starting our smaller-scale revolution with the reintroduction in our publication of the Paul Query Prize in Poetry, a yearly recognition that goes out to senior poets. The updates to the Review won’t be merely cosmetic, of course. The structure of our hardworking staff will be seeing change as well, doing more to get slick new copies into the hands of our readers. We’ll be extending our reach beyond the borders of DePauw to other universities and crafting a unique conversation of voices within our pages. Talks are still in early stages now, but rest assured the magazine is going to have an exciting Fall 2016.

I, for one, cannot wait to see where we end up, and I hope you feel the same. Enjoy diving into the work of our talented writers and artists.
