Course Description

Immunology is the study of the various systems, cells and chemicals used by the body in defense against foreign particles, including bacteria, protozoa, and viruses. In this class we will learn the basic mechanisms behind these defenses against disease, as well as how the immune system itself can lead to disease states: autoimmunity, immunodeficiency, and hypersensitivity reactions. We will touch on several aspects which are relevant to human health, including allergy, cancer, and AIDS.
