Course Description
This is a problem-solving seminar. The problems discussed in the seminar provide students with a better understanding of the actuarial field by exposing students to the professional application of actuarial science and by providing resources for students taking actuarial exams. Techniques and strategies for solving difficult problems are also introduced in the seminar. The seminar also includes an introduction to financial instruments, the determinants of interest rates, an alternative way to approximate the effect of change in interest rates. This course is of great assistance for students who are preparing for the actuarial exam (FM).

Student Outcomes
After students complete this course, they will demonstrate the ability to: 1. Understand the advanced topics including the Determinants of Interest rates, An alternative way to approximate the effect of change in interest rates, etc 2. Master and improve the abilities to do different annuity and bond calculation under various interest scenarios. 3. Master the learning strategies and techniques to meet the expectation of the actuarial professional exams. 4. Master the strategies and techniques to find internship and succeed in job interviews.
