Course Description
The course is designed to help the student understand the development of mass media law in the United States, and the principles behind that development. Of particular importance is the role of the First Amendment. The constitutional principles can be applied in discussion of information flow, news gathering practices, broadcast and electronic technologies, and media business.

Student Outcomes
Students will be able to understand and discuss the importance of free expression in civil society. Students will be able to debate current topics related to the First Amendment. Students will be able to appreciate the importance of free flow of information in a democracy.
