Course Description

This course is designed to give you an introduction to labor economics. In virtually every product and services we encounter in our economy, labor has been a key factor of input so it is important to study the market for labor demand (firms) and labor supply (workers). We will touch upon policy relevant topics such as minimum wages, education, immigration, death of despair, role of AI and types and the causes of racial/gender discrimination in our society! Modern economic studies rely heavily on empirical analysis and labor economics is on the forefront of empirical methods. For this reason, this course will cover various empirical toolsets of labor economists in addition to theory.
