Course Description

This course is designed to help you improve your fundamental Academic English skills. During the course, we will work on critical reading, speaking (leading and participating in discussions), and academic writing (short assignments, an essay, etc.). You will have plenty of opportunities to build relationships with your peers by working in groups on diverse activities, and providing peer review and feedback.

Student Outcomes

Course Objectives.
Following this course, students will be able to:

● Identify and correct common errors in their writing as independent self-editors

● Generate and revise text in English as part of the writing process

● Employ common academic vocabulary accurately and effectively

● Apply strategies for reading, writing, and speaking to their academic assignments

● Recognize the linguistic and rhetorical features of strong writing
