Course Description
This course in keyboard musicianship is the second semester of a four-semester class piano sequence. The course focuses on development of basic skill sets required in the areas of keyboard techniques, music reading, improvisation, transposition, elementary piano solo and accompanying repertoire, and ensemble playing. The course is intended to reinforce students’ understanding of both written and aural theoretical concepts.

Student Outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be able to perform the following tasks: ● Play piano with proper piano posture and hand position ● Play elementary piano solo and ensemble repertoire as well as simple accompaniment ● Sight-read and transpose elementary piano music ● Play major and minor scales, arpeggios, and chords with inversions ● Play I-IV-I-V-IV-I chord progression
