Course Description
This course assumes no previous knowledge of jazz dance. Course work emphasizes technique, knowledge of steps, style of individual dances, and the ability to combine movement with music. Students need to learn the covered dance steps and be able to perform these steps with confidence.

Student Outcomes
Students will learn 7-10 warm-up variations, which emphasize technique, strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. These variations are to be worked on outside of class. Videos for review have been posted to Google Drive for your convenience. By the end of the semester, students will submit six videos covering warm-ups in Luigi style to Google Drive. In addition, students will learn three dances covering different styles of movement, including lyrical, Broadway, and contemporary. Students will be required to write a research paper relating to jazz dance.
