Course Description
This course assumes no previous knowledge of tap dance. Course work emphasizes technique, knowledge of steps, style of individual dance, and the ability to combine movement with music. Students need to learn the covered dance steps and be able to perform these steps with confidence.

Student Outcomes
Students will learn beginning tap steps and technique. They will progress to more advanced steps as the semester continues. Students will work on short combinations concentrating on continuous movement and presentation. They will study basic rhythms necessary for creating and performing tap routines. Emphasis will be on individual performances. This material should be practiced outside of class. Videos for review have been posted to Google Drive for your convenience. Students will learn four dances covering various steps and styles. On the dates listed below, students will submit a video to Google Drive. In addition to these performance tests, students will be required to write a research paper relating to tap dance and present their findings via Zoom.
