Course Description
Social psychology is the study of how we are influenced by other people: How are our individual thoughts, feelings, actions, and reactions shaped by those around us? This course will provide you with a broad survey of research and theory in the field of social psychology, with particular emphasis on the application of social psychology to important issues of our time. This semester we will focus on issues related to gender, sexuality, and race, among other identities.

Student Outcomes
After taking this course, students will be able to: Demonstrate improved scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills. Demonstrate an increased knowledge of the content of Psychology as a field. Better identify, describe, and appreciate ethical and social, and philosophical implications of ideas and findings in psychology. Better understand and value scientific achievements (in this case, of Psychology as a field) and the limits of those achievements, past and present. Beyond these, students will also be able to: Recognize and understand the influence of the social situation on human behavior. Understand how to empirically test theories about the situational causes of human behavior. Understand how to apply social psychological insights to real world problems and everyday life.
