Course Description
This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of the ideas and tools found in statistical practice in addition to gaining practical usage of these ideas. Fundamentals of statistical reasoning and the role of statistical methods in physiological, social, economic and business research will be emphasized. Topics covered include (but are not limited to) descriptive statistics, basic probability rules, discrete/continuous probability distributions, including uniform and normal distributions, correlation and regression, confidence interval estimation, and hypothesis testing.

Student Outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to: Gain a fundamental understanding of basic statistical terminologies, difference between descriptive statistics and inferential statistics and understand the various data collection methods for the problems at hand and biases therein. Understand several discrete and continuous probability distributions and interpret the probabilities, mean and standard deviation. Understand the methodology and implementation of hypothesis testing and its implications on conclusions to problems at hand in addition to making critical inferences on multiple samples using hypothesis testing and confidence intervals. Demonstrate competency with varied forms of data analysis including organizing, interpreting, and drawing conclusions from quantitative and qualitative information.
