Course Description
Understanding statistics is essential to comprehending the modern world. Whether it's public opinion polls, clinical trials in medicine, or online recommendation systems, statistics influence nearly every aspect of our lives. This introductory course provides a comprehensive foundation of statistical concepts and methods for professional applications. Key topics include descriptive statistics, probability rules, common distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression. Emphasizing practical skills, the course prepares students to apply statistical reasoning in a broad range of fields such as business, economics, psychology, biology, public health, etc.

Student Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to: Gain a fundamental understanding of basic statistical terminologies, difference between descriptive statistics and inferential statistics and understand the various data collection methods for the problems at hand and biases therein. Understand several discrete and continuous probability distributions and interpret the probabilities, mean and standard deviation. Understand the methodology and implementation of hypothesis testing and its implications on conclusions to problems at hand in addition to making critical inferences on multiple samples using hypothesis testing and confidence intervals. Demonstrate competency with varied forms of data analysis including organizing, interpreting, and drawing conclusions from quantitative and qualitative information.
