Course Description
This art course is a general introduction to sculpture and 3-dimensional concepts and processes. During the semester, you will be introduced to a variety of materials, methods, and ideas. Assignments and discussions early in the semester will focus on formal, compositionally based works that utilize basic elements of 3-dimensional design. Over the course of the semester, emphasis will shift to the exploration of context: the frame of reference we use to look at and understand sculptural objects, and finally to content: the language, symbolism, or meaning of sculptural objects and materials.
