Course Description
This course provides as an introduction to the field of data science from data to knowledge and gives students’ hands-on experience with tools and methods. This course focuses on using computational and statistical tools for data acquisition, exploration, manipulation, visualization, analysis, clustering, association, and modeling, culminating in the effective communication of findings.

Student Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to: Describe what Data Science is and the skill sets needed to be a data scientist. Carry out arithmetic and logical operations using R/RStudio. Write R functions. Create dynamic and reproducible documents. Understand database operations and manage datasets including importing, exporting, sorting, and Subletting. Use R to learn basic exploratory and inferential statistical methods. Create effective visualizations including maps. Learn cluster, association, regression analyses.
