Course Description

Introduction to the French landuage with emphasis on development of proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing. The essentials of French grammar. Emphasis on communication and Francophone cultures

Student Outcomes

After successful completion of the course, you will: • have internalized the grammatical structures covered in chapters 5 thru 10; • be able to maintain basic conversations in French about leisure activities, weather, celebrations/parties, clothing, travel, housing, food, dining, and health. • be able to narrate past events and compose short writings in French working toward accurate use of grammar points covered in chapters 5 thru 10; • be able to read and listen to basic texts in French, globally understand their meaning, and answer questions about their content; • be familiar with and discuss different cultural and social aspects of the francophone (French-speaking) world in French and/or English.
